The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) develops new technology for the Department of Defense (DoD). It's mission is to "maintain the technological superiority of the U.S. military and prevent technological surprise from harming our national security by sponsoring revolutionary, high-payoff research bridging the gap between fundamental discoveries and their military use." Types of Projects Supported
SEG supports DARPA projects within the Tactical Technology Office (TTO), Strategic Technology Office (STO), Contracts Management Office (CMO), Defense Sciences Office (DSO), and Office of Management Operations (OMO). Project topics have included weapons, platforms, space, sensors, communications, energy, information technology, and cyber security. SEG has supported all phases of DARPA programs from creation of source selection material and execution of the source selection process through technology development and demonstration and all the way to transitioning technology to DoD partners in the field.
SEG utilizes its full range of capabilities in support of DARPA projects. SEG frequently serves as Cost Subject Matter Experts (SME) during source selection, SETA team members during program execution, and key advisors during technology transition. The SEG blend of cost expertise and systems engineering/operations knowledge and background allows it to appropriately bring cost considerations into focus during the technology development process. Bridging that gap between the detailed engineering perspective and the operational and cost perspective is an SEG specialty.
